A wonderful opportunity to explore the Ancient city of Luxor from the Port of Safaga with all of its wonders and unforgettable Temples on the East and West Bank of the River Nile.
Originally known as the city of Thebes in ancient times, and often described by archaeologists as ‘the world’s greatest open air museum’, Luxor has an immense history and was originally the capital of Egypt during the New Kingdom of 1570c – 1069bce.
A visit to both Luxor Temple under the rein of several Pharaohs and Kings and Karnak Temple under the rule of Senusret on the East Bank next to Luxor City will be an eye opening opportunity to see two of the first ever temples to be constructed in Upper Egypt.
On the West Bank of Luxor across the Nile, is the major burial site of ancient Pharaohs and nobles of the Egyptian dynasty where to date, over an incredible 64 burials have been discovered and is proclaimed as a world heritage site. Situated on the West Bank is also the grand Temple of Queen Hatshepsut who was the chief wife of Pharaoh Thutmose 11. She became ruler of Egypt and said to be the most successful Pharaohs of Egypt.
Luxor City has a lovely Bazaar to walk around with stops for delightful souvenirs of Upper Egypt and a fresh mint tea, great on a hot day to unwind. Delightful Kalesh rides around the City are always pleasant to see the scenery and locals out shopping.
You will be met at your exit at the Port inn Safaga by our Tour Guide and transferred to your vehicle for the journey to Luxor, approximately three hours. Along the way you have the chance to look at the scenic landscape with a rest stop if necessary.
On arrival in Luxor, you will be taken to your Hotel to check in, then begin a tour in the afternoon with your guide to Luxor and Karnak Temples. Here you will learn all about the history of these two ancient Temples of Thebes (old Luxor) and the opportunity to see the grand avenue of Sphinx’s which once connected the two temples.
Lunch will be included on this tour.
Evening is free time for you to explore Luxor City or rest at your Hotel.

Breakfast at the hotel in Luxor before being met by your Guide to cross the Nile to the West Bank and discover the famous burial sites and Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. Visit some of the tombs with fascinating paintings and colours with hieroglyphics dating back centuries. The ancient burial chamber of King Tutankhamun is amongst the many wonders of this incredible landscape of hills in the valley. Lunch will be included.
After your tour will be a few hours free time if you wish to look around Luxor with options of the local Bazar, Kalesh ride (horse and cart) or Luxor Museum for a real insight to Luxor’s ancient past.
Later you will bill collected for your transfer back to Safaga Port.
