A spectacular insight of the most famous ancient cities of the world, Cairo Egypt, along with the Greco- Roman City of Alexandria, the Old Capital of Egypt during the reign of Alexander the Great.
The most memorable holiday of a lifetime and a unique experience to discover the ancient world of the Pharaohs with visits to every site of importance ranging from the ancient pharaonic period to the invasion of the Ottoman Turks and their influence on this ancient capital.
Most important to Egyptians is to preserve their vast history and historical landmarks which bring thousands of visitors to their city year after year. The enormous 3 Pyramids of Giza and iconic Sphinx sit calmly in the desert of Giza with visitors feeing awestruck at the size of these monuments. With camel rides around the Pyramids gives the opportunity to take in the breathtaking landscape and views.
The Step Pyramid of Sakkara is considered as the first Pyramid constructed for King Zoser from the 1st and 2nd dynasties. It is clearly visible that its shape is less organised in its design than its neighbouring 3 Pyramids at Giza.
Memphis (the old and first capital City) is considered as an ‘open air museum’ with fascinating history being the centre when upper and lower Egypt were united.
No visit would be complete without a tour around the renowned Egyptian Museum with thousands of antiquities ranging from Pharaonic, Greek and Ottoman history, colossal monuments, and treasures of the boy King Tutankhamun.
Cairo was influenced greatly by its past history by the invasion by the Ottoman Turks. They left their most famous mark on the City by building the iconic Citadel of Salah El Deen named after Mohamed Ali, the military commander who invaded several countries including Egypt.
The Citadel is on one of the city’s highest points with spectacular views and sounds of the old Mosques with Cairo known as the ‘City of a thousand minarets’
In the district of Old Cairo, is the popular and old souk of Khan Khalili with an array of hand crafted beautiful gifts and memorabilia to remind you of your amazing holiday in Cairo.
Explore the most famous city in ancient Greco-Roman times, Alexandria at which Alexander the Great ruled and was the centre of learning known to be the largest and most prosperous city in the world. Explore the greatest roman ruins such as the Catacombs of Kom El-Shoqafa and the historical Pompey Pillar. A visit the Fortress of Qaitbay, built in a strategic location to in order to ward off approaching enemies. The modern Bibliotheca of Alexandria is also a must see visit due to its size and historic history.
Another attraction often overlooked is the interesting Pharaonic Village which looks into the history of the Pharaonic period with exhibitions, reconstructed tombs, the Coptic Christian period, Islamic history and a lot more. It is a visual wonder of all that ancient Egypt was and is famous for.
Arrival at Cairo International Airport where you will be met by our Representative with a sign showing your names. Then you will be transferred to your Hotel in Cairo for check in. You will then have the rest of the day and evening as free time to explore or choose our optional tour of an Evening Nile Dinner Cruise with meal and entertainment included.
After breakfast at the hotel, you will be met by your Guide for a full day of tours starting at the magnificent 3 Pyramids of Giza known as Cheops, Chefren and Mykerinus. The Great Sphinx is also next to the Pyramids for a great photo opportunity along with visiting the Solar Boat, an original boat the was reconstructed and was used for carrying the Pharaoh’s bodies from Upper Egypt for burial at the Pyramids. Lunch is included on the tour. Later you will be taken to the old Capital of the ancient Egyptians known as Memphis. Today, it is an open air museum showing the original artifacts and statues from ancient times.
Transfer back to your hotel overnight.
Breakfast at the hotel, then your Guide will escort you to the renowned Egyptian Museum. Here you will see an astounding collection of ancient artifacts ranging from mummifications, jewels, tomb treasures, and the famous golden death mask of the boy King Tutankhamun.
Lunch throughout the tour then an afternoon visit to the oldest Bazar and Souk in Old Cairo known as Khan Khalili. Here you have the opportunity to buy some lovely hand crafted gifts as a memory of your incredible trip to Cairo. Old Cairo hosts the most interesting ancient Mosques in the whole of the City.
Return to hotel for overnight stay.
Breakfast at you hotel, then a perfect opportunity to take our historical (optional) tour to the unique City of Alexandria, the old Capital of Egypt during the rein of Alexander the Great during the Greco- Roman period.
On arrival with your guide, you will visit several attractions such as the Old 15th century Citadel of Qaitbay located in a strategic location on the edge of the Mediterranean coastline to enable soldiers to spot any advances by the Ottoman sailing vessels.
Another fascinating site is that of the ancient Roman Catacombs, old cemetery along with Pompey’s Pillar overlooking the City. Lunch included through the day.
A visit to the modern Biblioteca , the huge Alexandria Library which was once the biggest centre of learning with the largest collection of books and manuscripts in Roman history which sadly, most were lost after an attack on the City by Julius Cesar and fire spread through the library.
Return to Cairo for overnight stay.
Final day with breakfast before being transferred with our Representative back to Cairo International Airport for your flight home.
